What Can I Expect During My First Visit to a Chiropractor? On your first visit, you will fill out a health history questionnaire and our HIPPA policy. Afterwards, you will meet with the doctor for a detailed consultation. During the consultation, the doctor will review your history, and identify whether you are a candidate for chiropractic care, or if a referral to another provider is needed. Depending on the individuals age, x-rays may be taken to determine problem areas within the spine, and identify any degenerative changes. Generally, children under the age of 10 are not x-rayed unless there is a family history of scoliosis, or other complicated health issues. For younger children and infants, a surface temperature reading is obtained to determine spinal balance. After the consultation and the x-rays are evaluated, the doctor will give you options for care in our office, and the first adjustment will be given. A detailed care plan, and financial plan, along with exercises and important health info will be covered on the second visit. |
